Welcome to Sheryl Haw, the new International Director of Micah Network

The Micah Network Executive is pleased to announce the appointment of Sheryl Haw as the new International Director of Micah Network. Sheryl will take up the post on the first of April 2010 and succeeds Jane Furniss who left in 2009 after 5 years in the post.

Sheryl was born in Zimbabwe and trained as a nurse in South Africa. She worked with Medair (A Christian Crisis Relief agency, based in Switzerland) and has worked in Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, Uganda, DRC, Zimbabwe, India, Bangladesh and Angola. Following 13 years with Medair she became a self employed Consultant/ Trainer and worked on a BA in theology. Over the last 2 years she started as the Integral Mission coordinator / lecturer at All Nations Christian College in England, where she helped develop the module in development studies and development management. Along with this Sheryl has for the past 5 years worked for the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) International, which is a membership organisation currently with a membership of 40 agencies. Sheryl has been responsible to facilitate members developing and monitoring accountability standards in the aid sector.

Sheryl has family living in Zimbabwe and will be based in the United Kingdom at the outset.

Sheryl says "I am desperate to walk a life of integrity and vitality before God and people - this is for me when change will flow....."

We look forward to Sheryl joining Micah Network. Let's pray for her in the coming months as she works through and lays down her current responsibilities and as she takes up the new challenges in Micah Network.


International Coordinator

Jane Furniss served as International Co-ordinator from May 2004, when the position was created.

Since leaving office in 2009, she continues to serve the Network in a voluntary capacity.

 

Africa - Regional Coordinator

As African Regional Coordinator, John Wesley Kabango is responsible for developing and convening workshops and other initiatives which meet members needs in the African region.

This will significantly increase Micah Network’s capacity to facilitate and coordinate initiatives within Africa.

 

Asia - Regional Coordinator

Sundar Daniel was appointed Micah Network's Asia Regional Coordinator in August 2008, and is based out of Kodaikanal, India. Sundar has more than 20 years experience in Christian community development, particularly in the area of drugs and HIV programming, and has also served in different capacities with Micah Network member organisations Sharan, NEIDAC and CANA.

 

Latin America - Regional Coordinator

Ruth Alvarado was appointed to this position in 2007, and is based in Peru. Ruth was one of the founding members of Paz y Esperanza (Peace and Hope). From 2004-2007 she served as the Executive Director of AGAPE, a ministry working with children at risk in Lima, Peru. She is a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance church, and a supporter for the Bible Societies in training pastors and leaders in the provinces of Peru.

 

Project Officer - HIV

Greg Manning is based out of Brisbane, Australia and has been facilitating Micah Network's HIV Practitioners Forum since July 2007.
